Without spirituality, life has no meaning, no direction.

About free, undogmatic and inspiring spirituality. Videos, links, books and debate.

For me dogmas just don't work. I'm a spiritual person, but I don't really like the idea of anybody telling me what I have to believe.

Spirituality is a state of mind, not related to religion

Spirituality =/= Religion+Dogma

I've been thinking about doing this video for awhile but never got around to doing it. The reality that spirituality does not equate to religion or dogma seems to just fly over many religious people's heads. I find it sad - so I made this video. Enjoy (or send me hate mail).

Is world peace possible? Forget religion!

Is World Peace possible? - Spirituality and Religion

http://www.siddhayatan.org http://www.yogeeshashram.org http://www.siddhalishree.com (blog) Is world peace possible? This is really a shocking question because we live in a world, which is full of mess and yet we are trying to create peace. World peace is never possible. I can give you a simple formula about world peace: No Religions = World Peace. The best way to create peace is to forget all the religions. If a person is religious people think he is a very good person but I suggest to you if a person can become a good person in society he is better than a religious person already. World peace is only possible if religions are subtracted from the formula. This is one way. Another way world peace is possible is if all spiritual seekers come together and pray for the world together at the same time, suppose at 5pm in the evening. No matter where they are at 5 pm New York time (morning in the East) if hundreds of thousands of spiritual seekers sit together and pray they can change the world's energy. They can create such a positive energy in the world that evil will disappear. When religions disappear, then peace will prevail. That is the second way to create world peace. *tags* world peace spiritual truth enlightenment spirituality religion

Should real spirituality be free?

Is real spirituality free?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes, money and spirituality can't mix

atsakiris says:

yes... kinda like LOVE... strike that... exactly like LOVE :)

extremely says:

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

JaguarJulie says:

Real spirituality should come from within the individual as in spirit and that should always be 100% free.

0ctavias0fferings says:

Yes, it should all be freely available and easy to find.

sirkeystone says:

I agree with your comment whole heartedly! When money is involved spirituality becomes clouded and we start to see powerplays.

No, everybody has to live, and that takes money

0ctavias0fferings says:

Except where there are materials involved - materials cost money so there needs to be a realistic charge.

says:

Everyone likes to hear an idealistic point of view that says that all spiritual teachings should be free, but this is not practical in the modern world. People do not appreciate what is freely given, there must be an exchange of energy for it to have value. That can be money, work, time, or effort of some kind.

The case against religion

Of course there are some who would argue that the scent of religion needs to be totally discarded. God is total nonsense and there is nothing divine in the universe. To cater to them, I've made two lenses devoted to anti-religious feelings. They do have a point: religion has done a lot of harm.
If you agree, or even if you don't, feel free to click through and share your favorite anti Christian and anti religious quotes.

All religions are ultimately ONE

So, do you feel that the differences between the various religions are important, or clutter?

Are the differences between the religions important?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes, the differences are what make them unique.

atsakiris says:

yes... otherwise they'd just be a purely spiritual pursuit of the divine... and we wouldn't want that :)

spirituality says:

The differences make the varying religions interesting.

No, the central message is the same.

MedicalWhistleblower says:

In all religous experiences we seek to find the meaning of our own lives and our connectiveness to the universe.

says:

Religion does not exist to be interesting. Religion is slavery for the mind and has long outlived its usefulness. It is time to move on to a more realistic and open view of spirituality. Religion and spirituality are not the same thing.

spirituality says:

There is an underlying central message of unity for all mankind.

Spiritual Lenses - without dogmas

More religion and spirituality

So do you agree? Is spirituality without dogmas the best?

Is spirituality without dogmas better than spirituality WITH dogmas?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

No, dogmas are necessary: they are the truths I believe in!

Ener-G says:

What if I prefer catmas to dogmas?

Yes, dogmas hinder one from finding the truth - spirituality without dogmas is best!

sangemaru says:

The whole concept of dogma basically excludes spirituality, since it excludes growth and the fact that what may be right for one is definitely not right for others.

Ener-G says:

Swami Beyondanda says it's better to park your karma and leash your dogma.

says:

If there is dogma attached, it is no longer spiritual, it has become a religion. Dogma is about control and keeping people from thinking for themselves.

sirkeystone says:

Definately. The less dogmas the more unity we start to see. When we agreew to disagree, we start to understand the others point of views. Easier to wear the other person's moccasins.

RinchenChodron says:

Yes, Absolutely no question. As long as it is based on love and compassion we need to honor each others beliefs!

Spiritual themes on other lenses

Ken Wilber talking to Fr. Thomas a Catholic monk

Tomorrow's Spirituality

The Catholic theologian Karl Rahner famously said "the Christian of tomorrow will be a mystic, or not a Christian at all." Few people have impacted Christianity in this regard as has Fr. Thomas Keating. A Cistercian monk from St. Benedict's Monastery in Snowmass, Colorado, Fr. Thomas has spent a lifetime in deep Christian practice, and in sharing the fruits of this contemplation with countless others. We were enormously blessed to host a dialogue with Fr. Thomas and Ken Wilber in April of 2006. In today's featured video, Ken presents some of the foundational concepts of Integral spirituality.
